Intravenous Therapy Home Study Course

 

Currently, there is no national standard for IV Certification or Recertification. Each state board of nursing has it's own standards and each employer may have additional standards. This course is complete with a certificate of completion that includes seven (7) contact hours awareded by the District of Columbia Board of Nursing.

This course is designed for nurses who are seeking to deliver intravenous therapy to patients in a safe and effective manner. This course is also a cost effective and time efficient methodology for recertification.

  • Peripheral and Central Lines
  • Infusion Methodology
  • Effective site selection techniques
  • Aseptic intravenous site care
  • Infection control
  • Intravenous complications
  • Proper documentation of therapy
  • Patients with special intravenous therapy needs

What is the cost of the course?
   
The complete cost of the course is just $50.00

When do the classes meet?
   
This course is 95% home study. At the end of the course you will attend a two hour IV Skills Workshop.

How does the course work?

    You will receive a home study workbook, a set of quizzes, and pre-addressed stamped envelopes for mailing your assignments and quizzes to your instructor. You are notified via email of your quiz scores.
You will have up to five weeks to complete the five modules in the workbook (most students complete the modules in about 8 hours of continuous study.)
    After the five modules are complete you will be scheduled to attend a two-hour skills workshop located in downtown DC. The skills workshop site is located one block from Metro Center on the red line. You will also take a  final exam at the workshop. You will be awarded your certificate and contact hours at the end of the workshop.


How do I pay for the course and get started?

In the comment section simply type in "IV Certification Course."  You will receive an application and payment form via U.S. Mail. Once payment is made you will receive your course materials. That's all there is to it.
